Dr. Philipp Perren

Philipp Perren is an attorney-at-law and holds a degree in mechanical engineering from ETH Zurich. His practice focuses on technical matters, in particular aviation, liability and insurance, corporate, patent, and inheritance law, including succession planning. He was a partner in the law firm Nobel & Hug since 2001.

From 1986 to 1989, Philipp Perren worked as an engineer in research and development at Contraves in Zurich. In parallel, he obtained his commercial pilot’s licence. From 1989 to 1991, Philipp Perren worked as a consulting jurist and pilot. In 1994, he wrote his doctoral thesis on “Liability problems in space activities with special reference to the product liability risk” (“Haftpflichtprobleme bei Weltraumtätigkeit unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des Produktehaftpflichtrisikos”) at the University of St. Gallen HSG.

Since 1993, Philipp Perren has been the president first of the FLUSIKO (Air Traffic Control Commission), then from 1997 of the SIKO (Safety Commission) of the Aero Club, Switzerland. He is also a member of the legal department of the Aero Club, of the advisory board of the Swiss Aerospace Law Association (ASDA/SVLR), and of the advisory board of the Swiss Aerospace Law Journal (ASDA/SVLR Bulletin). Philipp Perren moreover chairs the board of directors of Air Zermatt AG and Air-Glaciers SA, and is a member of the board of directors of Corvatsch AG, Spectro Oil AG, and the Cantonal Valais Rescue Organisation OCVS/KWRO (an independent institution under public law). He furthermore sits on the board of the Swiss Helicopter Association SHA and on the board of the Foundation for Aviation Competency FFAC, St. Gallen. Philipp Perren is an enthusiastic pilot and holds a glider licence as well as a commercial pilot licence with instrument rating for single and multi-engine aircraft, with extensions for seaplanes, mountain flights and aerotow.
